Internal web application for streamlining warranty lookups and improving inventory accuracy in a high-volume repair environment.
I designed and developed an internal web application that enables technicians to quickly scan devices, retrieve warranty information, and verify asset labels through a single, centralized interface. The system has been in production for nearly two years and is used daily by a repair team that processes thousands of devices each week.
Before this application was developed, technicians relied on Microsoft Excel spreadsheets or visited individual manufacturer websites to verify warranty information. This process was repetitive, time-consuming, and made it difficult to quickly identify incorrectly labeled devices during the repair process.
I created a centralized web application backed by a custom database that allows technicians to scan a device and instantly retrieve warranty information. The application also helps identify incorrect asset labels, improving accuracy before devices continue through the repair workflow.
My primary goal was simplicity. Since technicians use the application throughout the day, I focused on minimizing clicks and creating an intuitive workflow. I observed how employees interacted with the system, refined the interface based on their feedback, and introduced numerous quality-of-life improvements before deployment.
